A.

The printer must be shared on Master Print Release Station and other workstations print to the shared printer. Uncheck "Render print jobs on client computers" and select "Start printing after last page is spooled" in the properties of printer. For details, please see the step by step configuration Setup a Printer on Print Release Station.

If CZ Print Print Release Station is installed on Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows 2003:

Step 1. In CZ Print Release Station Preferences -> User Mode, select "lock the desktop in User Mode.

Step 2. In CZ Print Release Station menu Print Jobs, click "Switch to User Mode".

If CZ Print Print Release Station is installed on Windows Vista/2008/7/8/2012:

Step 1. Download and extract free tool http://www.czsolution.com/download/editctaldl.zip. Run editctaldl.exe and select all options and click OK.

Step 2. In CZ Print Release Station Preferences -> User Mode, select "lock the desktop in User Mode. Please see above picture 1.

Step 3. In CZ Print Release Station menu Print Jobs, click "Switch to User Mode". Please see above picture 2.

Solution 1:

If popup doesn't work on all client computers, the local firewall settings on Windows may prevent CZ Print Release Station from sending message to agent.

On the computer where has CZ Print Release Station installed, add "printczrm.exe" (e.g. C:\Program Files\CZ Solution\CZ Print Release Station\printczrm.exe) to exception list of local firewall settings (Control Panel -> Windows Firewall).

Solution 2:

If the CZ Popup on a client computer doesn't show active in CZ Print Release Station Preferences --> User Mode --> Check Popup Status, go to that client computer, open C:\Program Files\CZ Solution\CZ Popup\release_ip.ini, enter the IP address or computer name of CZ Print Release Station and save, then logoff the client computer, login back and check CZ Print Release Station Preferences --> User Mode --> Check Popup Status.

Solution 3:

The Windows firewall settings (Start --> Control Panel --> Windows Firewall) on Windows may prevent agent from connecting to server (CZ Print Release Station). When agent is installed and run first time, it will be added to the exceptions automatically. If not, please add "pagent.exe" (e.g. C:\Program Files\CZ Solution\CZ Popup\pagent.exe) to exception list of local firewall settings (Control Panel -> Windows Firewall).

If it is already listed in the firewall exceptions list, you can remove it and add it again, then make testing.

Solution 4:

The antivirus software firewall settings may prevent popup from connecting to server (CZ Print Release Station). Please add "pagent.exe" (e.g. C:\Program Files\CZ Solution\CZ Popup\pagent.exe) to exception list of antivirus firewall settings or add exception for TCP port 14228.

Solution 5:

If popup still doesn't appear after you try above solutions and the computer name of print job shows the MAC address, for example [fe80::5002:d65d:a3ea0:ef74], uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)"  on the computer that has Master Print Release Station installed, then test again.

On Windows 2008/7/8/2012 that has CZ Print Release Station installed:

Step 1. Go to control panel -> administrative tools -->  Print Management Software.

Step 2. Right click the printer driver you are using, select None in Set Driver Isolation.

Yes. The user account that runs CZ Print Release Station doesn’t have to be an administrator account, but it needs the “full control” permission on the following folders: C:\czdata, C:\temp and C:\Program Files\CZ Solution (Right click the folder -> Properties -> Security). The user account must also have “full control” permission on the printers (Right click the printer -> Properties -> Security). If you allow the user account to change CZ Print Release Station settings (Preferences), it also needs the “full control” permission on registry HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CZ Print Release Station (Start -> Run -> regedt32 -> Select HEKY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CZ Print Release Station -> Click Security).

A.

Yes. You must use Master - Slave infrastructure to implement CZ Print Release Station. Please check the infrastructure for more information.

If you install CZ Print Release Station 6.0 on Windows 2000, you don't need to do anything for this.

If you install CZ Print Release Station 6.0 on Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 / Windows 8, 

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate the following registry subkey, where <printername> is the name of your printer:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers\<printername>
3. In the right pane, right-click SpoolDirectory, and then click Modify.

4. In the Value data box, copy the value from DefaultSpoolDirectory located in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Print\Printers)

   

5. Repeat step 2 to step 4 for the other printers.

6. Quit Registry Editor.

7. Restart the Print Spooler service. (Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Service)

8. Restart CZ Print Release Station 6.0.

9. Send a new print job to test.

If you install CZ Print Release Station 6.0 on Windows 2003 / Windows 2008 / Windows 2012,    

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate the following registry subkey:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. In the New Value #1 box, type DisableServerFilePooling, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click DisableServerFilePooling, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1 to turn off spool file pooling, and then click OK.
7. Quit Registry Editor.
8. Restart the Print Spooler service. (Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Service)
9. Restart CZ Print Release Station 6.0.
10. Send a new print job to test.

Yes.

If you can't preview the print jobs, please see the following common issues:

1. The content file can't be found

Check if the spool file format is #####.spl where ##### is the number (for example 00002.spl) in the spool directory e.g. C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS\.  If it shows FP#####, please follow the instructions in Question 7 to turn off Spool File Pooling.

2. The format of current printer driver is not supported

A. Uncheck "Enable Advanced Printing" in the properties of the printer -> Advanced and print again.

B. If A doesn't work, check "Enable Advanced Printing" and change the data type from RAW to NT EMF 1.008 in the properties of the printer -> Advanced --> Print Processor, then print again.

C. If B doesn't work, try a different printer driver (e.g. Postscript printer driver or PCL printer driver), then repeat A and B.

Yes. You can run Master Print Release Station on your Windows print server as Windows Service and use Slave Print Release Station to release the print jobs. Please check the infrastructure for more information.

Step 1. Exit Master Print Release Station if it is running.

Step 2. Rename file C:\Program Files\CZ Solution\CZ Print Release Station\config\noservice (or C:\Users\<your_account>\AppData\Local \VirtualStore\Program Files\CZ Solution\CZ Print Release Station\config\noservice) to a different name.

Step 3. Start CZ Print Release Station and select the menu item "Tools-->Install CZ Print Release Station (Master) Service".

Step 4. Restart the computer. When the Master Print Release Station service is running, the process "PrintSaver.exe" is running in Task Manager.

Note: In this setup, if the Master Print Release Station is running at the backend and no one use Master Print Release Station to release the print job, then only the license for Slave Print Release Station needs to be ordered. The license for Master Print Release Station is free.

Assign “CREATOR OWNER” only “Print” permission in the “Security” of the properties of the printers (Right click the printer -> Properties -> Security) on the Master Print Release Station.

Please uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" on the computer that has CZ Print Release Station installed.
